In, Over, Around, and Through: A Painter's Perspective
Celebrating the Trinity River Watershed by Landscape Artist Yvonne Kern
The Highland Art Center invites you to come explore the vast beauty of the Trinity River and the land it nurtures through the eyes of landscape artist Yvonne Kern. She has spent the past two years exploring the Trinity River Watershed area, and this month we are excited to feature her beautiful portrayals of the river and coastal environments. With each of the paintings in this exhibit she sought to express the feeling and sound of the space. Like how the river rapids create a landscape symphony, the meadows and beaches offer whispering string notes, and the pools beckon a soul to quiet tranquility. She writes: "I wish to reflect this beautiful treasure we are so blessed to have within reach – to inspire a desire to seek out new experiences and instill fond nostalgia for that which has flowed on. Behold how swiftly it passes…." Yvonne Kern graduated from Humboldt State University in 1985. She has been painting professionally ever since. She works primarily in her studio, but gets her inspiration from the abundant images that she gleans from her surroundings. Join us for the opening reception on Saturday September 3rd during the Weaverville Art Cruise from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. This exhibit will be on display during normal business hours at the Highland Art Center from September 3rd through September 27th.
