Wildways: 40,000 Queens
Tour a local family-owned commercial queen bee operation in Palo Cedro. Jackie Park-Burris will guide guests through the bee operation and its hives while discussing bee culture, diseases, threats to agriculture, and honey production. Enjoy lunch in a bee-inspired home filled with countless art pieces showcasing bees. Next, travel to a working bee field to observe employees working the hives, where you’ll have the chance to locate and capture queen bees. Participants must have no bee allergies or a fear of bees. Please no children, teenagers okay. Shasta Land Trust’s Wildways series of fundraising events is a fun and unique way for people to contribute to the preservation of significant lands in far northern California. Connecting people and places, the Wildways events feature some of the most interesting and fun outings in the North State! Hosted by volunteers, all proceeds from ticket sales support Shasta Land Trust’s mission to conserve local land.
