Wildways: Parkville Cemetery Tour and BBQ
Spend a summer evening with friends learning fascinating stories about local events and enjoying a bar-b-que on the patio at the beautiful Fenwood Ranch. The Village of Parkville was founded in 1850 along Bear Creek, and much of the surrounding land remains almost the same as it was at that time. Cemetery caretakers will lead you on an entertaining tour of the small town cemetery shaded by giant oak trees. Your tour will focus on the pioneer stories of the people who first helped build our communities, including a buried Pony Express rider and the infamous Mrs. Dersch. The tour will also reveal several exciting stories only recently discovered. Beer and wine will be served with your meal. Shasta Land Trust’s Wildways series of fundraising events is a fun and unique way for people to contribute to the preservation of significant lands in far northern California. Connecting people and places, the Wildways events feature some of the most interesting and fun outings in the North State! Hosted by volunteers, all proceeds from ticket sales support Shasta Land Trust’s mission to conserve local land.
