Mandolin powerhouse John Reischman and his Jaybirds perform some of the finest, hardest-driving bluegrass you're likely to hear anywhere, drawing material from both traditional masters such as the Blue Sky Boys and Ralph Stanley, and contemporary artists such as Gillian Welch. In the words of Bluegrass Unlimited magazine, "You can always count on the Jaybird’s unique sound, its mix of fire and laid-back elegance with a loose good-time feel.” It’s been six years since John Reischman and the Jaybirds last had a concert with the Oaksong Music Society. The last was at Gray Pine Farm in 2010, at a summertime concert with Laurie Lewis and the Right Hands. Together, John Reischman and the Jaybirds have released six critically acclaimed albums, including their most recent release, On A Winter’s Night.
Joining John Reischman onstage as the Jaybirds are some of the finest musicians that the west coast bluegrass scene has to offer: Jim Nunally (Due West) on guitar and vocals, Greg Spatz (High Country) on fiddle, Seattle's famed Scruggs-style banjo stylist and vocalist Nick Hornbuckle, and Canadian bass ace and singer Trisha Gagnon.
