BLUEGRASS & MOUNTAIN MUSIC
with THE RITA HOSKING TRIO
“The next time she passes our way, do not miss a performance by Rita Hosking!” -- Jim Dyar, former arts and entertainment editor, Redding Record Searchlight Shasta county native Rita Hosking is a favorite of northern California music fans. Rita grew up on Hatchet Mountain (Fall River area) in eastern Shasta County, where she internalized dusty woodsheds, the scent of springwater, forest fires and the troubles of rural economies. Her musical experience began as a child at church, and under the wings of an old time jug band made up of seasoned mountain characters. A descendant of Cornish miners who sang in the mines, Rita grew up with deep regard for folk music and the power of the voice. Her concerts feature a blended mix of gritty and mournful mountain music, folk, country, and bluegrass that are rooted in her family’s frontier existence, as well as a sprinkling of classics by the likes of Flatt and Scruggs, Ralph Stanley and Bill Monroe. For this concert with The Rita Hosking Trio, she will be joined by her husband, Sean Feder on Dobro and banjo, and Bill Dakin on upright bass. The Door opens @ 7:15pm with the show starting at 8:00pm. Additional information is at www.oaksongs.org.
