George Cole swings into Redding

Cole swings Cole

George Cole has played in Redding twice, presenting the hottest gypsy jazz imaginable. On January 30, he brings a new show, “Cole Swings Cole”, featuring the songs of Nat King Cole and Cole Porter. In the spirit of this special evening, the Oaksong Music Society will present George in an intimate Harlem nightclub setting reminiscent of such famous New York City venues as The Cotton Club and Birdland. “Cole Swings Cole” is performed by the George Cole Trio which consists of George Cole on guitar and vocals, Larry Dunlap on piano, and Jim Kerwin on the upright bass. The show features songs from the original Nat King Cole Trio, Nat King Cole's solo career, selections of Cole Porter, a George and Ira Gershwin song thrown in for good measure, as well as some of George Cole’s own original compositions. Highlighting some of Nat’s big hits of the forties, fifties, sixties, and Great American Songbook compositions, this will be an evening to remember! Door opens @ 7:15pm. Tickets available at the Music Connection in Redding. 530-223-2040.
