'Private Violence' Film Screening
Screening of Emmy-Nominated HBO Documentary Produced and Directed by Cynthia Hill
On Thursday, October 8th at 5:30 PM One SAFE Place will partner with the Redding Library to bring the Emmy-nominated HBO documentary ‘Private Violence’ to the Shasta County community. This film, produced and directed by Cynthia Hill, explores a simple but deeply disturbing fact of American life: the most dangerous place for a woman in America is in her own home. Through the eyes of two survivors—Deanna Walters, a mother who seeks justice for the crimes committed against her at the hands of her estranged husband, and Kit Gruelle, an advocate who seeks justice for all women—we bear witness to the complicated and complex realities of domestic violence. The event is free to the public and will include a moderated discussion lead by One SAFE Place following the film, to help answer questions and highlight local resources. Childcare will also be available for participants and refreshments will be served.
