Schreder Planetarium presents
Stars of the Pharaohs; Seasons of Lights
Stars of the Pharaohs Travel to ancient Egypt to see how science was used to tell time, make a workable calendar, and align huge buildings. You'll learn about the connection the ancient Egyptians felt with the stars and various astronomical phenomena. See some of the most spectacular temples and tombs of the ancient world recreated in all of their original splendor. Season of Light Light up your evening as we bring you the burning of the Yule log, sparkling Christmas trees, candles in the windows, luminaries and the traditional ritual of lighting the Menorah. Feast in the multicultural traditions of the winter solstice. Rituals from ancient Christian, Jewish, Celtic, Nordic, Roman, Irish, Mexican and Hopi cultures are presented, along with more modern traditions of kissing under the mistletoe, caroling, and gift giving. The program does, of course, include some sky gazing. This show is ideal for ages six and older.
