Dance-driven theatre under starlight

Drawing on elements of dramatic theatre, Episodes fuses Artesan’s fearless choreographic style and moving musical selections with storytelling in a works-in-progress series that invites audiences into the company’s creative process. The result? Artesan’s most daring project to date, comprised of professional dancers, actors and artists with Choreographer and Artistic Director Summer Odell Ovies at the helm. Scheduled to premiere at the new indoor-outdoor theatre (chosen for its unique and modern design) at Redding School of the Arts, Episodes will unfold in a series of three performances. The company’s fresh and imaginative approach to movement offers an unusual twist to conventional dance-theatre. In addition to their local shows, Artesan has performed in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and at such venues as the world-renowned Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival (Berkshires, MA) and The Casino de Paris (Paris, France). Now entering their 7th season, Artesan Dance Company is honored to present a new series of performances in their hometown of Redding, California. This season, audiences will get a unique look into the company’s creative process. The public is invited to a special Preview Performance the night before the Premiere for a fraction of the regular ticket price. Audiences are also invited to participate in a Q&A with the dancers, artists, writer and director following the final performance of each episode. (Artesan Dance Company is in proud partnership with Redding School of the Arts and the Foundation for Promoting Arts Education in support of their capital campaign for construction of the world’s first LEED Platinum Children’s Theater.)
