Exhibition Proposal Evening at the Siskiyou Arts Museum

What Would YOU Like to see in 2016?

On Saturday, June 27th, The Siskiyou Arts Museum (SAM) will be holding an Exhibition Proposal Evening from 5 to 7pm at the gallery in Dunsmuir. Artists, patrons and community members are invited to help SAM’s Curatorial Committee to plan the 2016 show season. Participants will be able to propose shows and be actively involved in organizing, jurying, curating and working with other SAM volunteers to help promote the chosen shows. All proposals must fit into one of four categories, Open Juried (group show with a theme), Invitational (show of 2 or more local artists), Out of Area (group of 2 or more artists from out of the area) or Educational or Historical Interest (these shows have a defined educational interest). Artists may propose shows of their own work that fit into one of the categories. Proposals may be presented using jpegs, power points, handouts with images and ideas, or posters. After all proposals are submitted, those attending will have an opportunity to vote on their favorites. Finalists will be submitted to the Siskiyou Arts Museum Board of Directors for final approval. The Siskiyou Arts Museum is a non-profit all volunteer organization dedicated to enriching the lives of north state artists and residents by providing a space for artists to present their work and for affordable arts and cultural activities to occur. The gift store at SAM features the work of over 65 local and regional artists and fine crafters. Art shows in the gallery and museum feature major works of local, regional, national and even internationally acclaimed artists. Second Saturday openings happen each month, where visitors can view new showings and meet the artists. The gallery, gift store and museum are open Thursday through Sunday each week. SAM is located at 5824 Dunsmuir Ave. in Dunsmuir. For more information about the Exhibition Proposal Evening, call SAM at 235-4711.
