Raising Queens & Harvesting Honey

Tour a local family-owned commercial queen bee operation in Palo Cedro. Operation owner Jackie Park-Burris will guide guests on a stroll through the working bee field to get up close and personal with queen bees and honey production. Learn about bee culture, pollination, diseases, and threats to agriculture. Later, enjoy a honey-themed lunch and honey-brewed drinks in the beautiful home of Jackie Park-Burris filled with artwork showcasing her beloved honey bees. Participants must have no bee allergies or fear of bees. Guests over the age of fifteen are welcome.


Shasta Land Trust's Wildways series of fundraising events is a fun and unique way for people to contribute to the preservation of significant lands in northern California. The 19 Wildways events of 2019 feature a diverse array of unique adventures that include exclusive access to protected properties, beautiful open space, and other secret spots throughout the area. Hosted by volunteers, all proceeds from ticket sales support the Shasta Land Trust's mission to conserve local land.
