Denim Day and Take Back the Night
Shasta CARES (Campus Advocacy, Resources, and Education for Safety) would like to invite you to participate in this year’s “Denim Day and Take Back the Night”, an event recognizing Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April.
• Wear jeans on Denim Day with a purpose to show that there is no excuse and never an invitation to rape.
o To find out more about the global Denim Day campaign, visit www.denimdayinfo.org.
o You can register your participation online too: http://denimdayinfo.org/register-participation/
o At Shasta College, Take Back the Night is a candlelight vigil and march in solidarity against sexual violence. Together, we recognize and raise awareness about violence, while honoring survivors. During the evening, participants interact with campus and community partners addressing the various aspects of violence, learning about how to break the silence and erode the current cultural and social norms that contribute to sexual violence. The evening will conclude with a speak out where survivors can share their stories in a way that they find empowering be it storytelling, spoken word, or another platform.
ASL Interpretation will be provided during the main portion of the program.
**More opportunities to get involved!!
**We are currently looking for performers (song, dance, spoken word, etc.) during the 12-2pm Denim Day event and during Take Back the Night between 7:15pm and 8:10pm. Contact Shasta CARES Student Ambassador, Tyler Cervania for more information: email@example.com.
