33rd Annual Juried Art Show

Weaverville, CA, September 23, 2017– For the month of October, the Highland Art Center is proud to host the 33rd annual Juried Art Show. To create this exciting exhibit, member artists submit the best of their work in hopes that it will fare well against their counterparts. Then our guest juror selects the pieces that will be displayed in the show and awards prizes for his favorites in each category as well as an overall Best in Show grand prize. This year’s juror is Andrew Patterson-Tutschka, a visual art professor at Shasta College in Redding CA. With a MFA in painting from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and a BFA in painting and drawing from the University of Michigan, Andrew has earned professional awards including: a 2010 Josef and Anni Albers Foundation residency and a 2007 MFA Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant. He specializes in perceptual painting and has exhibited in the New York, Philadelphia, Detroit, and Sacramento metropolitan areas. Join us for an opening reception on October 3rd from 5:00 - 8:00 pm to see the incredible sculptures, paintings, drawings, multi-media pieces that were selected. Our juror will be giving an artist’s talk promptly at 5:00 on Oct 3rd if you are interested in hearing about the selection process and why he chose the pieces he did. The show will be on display through October 31st during normal business hours Tues-Sat 11am-5pm.
