Alisa Lincoln / Wild Poppy Studios
On September 21st, The Crowning Jewels in downtown Redding will feature a fun art exhibit with contemporary abstract artist Alisa Lincoln with Wild Poppy Studios. The show is entitled Play.
Many of us, as we become adults, forget the importance of play in our lives. A saying by George Bernard Shaw say's, "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing." Play can look like many things...spontaneity, wonder, delight, celebration, joy, adventure, etc. Alisa's overall goal as an artist is to produce work that captures elements of wonder, beauty, delight, peace, hope, joy, rest, creativity, etc. We live in a world that tirelessly tries to steal our wonder, joy and hope. Alisa is working to do the opposite through her gift of art and creativity. Her hope for this show is that it will inspire you to consider the importance of play in your life; that it's as important for living a life fully alive and staying young at heart as taking care of body, soul and spirit...and in fact proposes they are all connected.
Alisa has been making art since childhood. In college she studied graphic design, and later worked for a season as a portrait artist. But in 2008 she happily discovered the wonders of abstraction. She had played with little bits of abstraction in the past, but 2008 was a a launching point. She has worked as an contemporary abstract artist since. Alisa loves experimenting and combining mediums like acrylics and india inks, cold-wax and oil as well as encaustic, oil pastels, charcoal and chalk pastels. This show will feature mostly her acrylic and india ink work.
Join Alisa Lincoln with Wild Poppy Studios on September 21st from 6pm - 9pm at The Crowning Jewels in downtown Redding for an opening reception with the artist. Her exhibit will be on display for several day following the reception until Monday September 25th through regular business hours, 10 am – 6 pm Monday – Saturday.
