Historic Walking Tour of Diestelhorst Bridge
Sponsored by the Behrens-Eaton House Museum
Meet at the Senior Citizen's Center's parking lot at 2290 Benton Dr., Redding, at the north side of Diestelhorst Bridge. Mike Grifantini will lead this tour of Redding's first "iconic" bridge. There is more history to be seen and discussed per square foot here than anywhere else in the Redding area! The topics will include the building of Shasta Dam, early-day floods, recreation in Redding before air conditioning, the Wintu Indians and much more. This has been a very popular tour in the past, so don't miss your opportunity this year! The walk will span about 1 mile on paved surfaces that are mostly flat, with a few slight inclines, takes about 1 1/4 hours and will proceed in any type of weather other than heavy rain.
